In Rajasthan Patrika dt.16.05.06 the editor Mr. Gulab Kothari has raised some questions in respect of the Education in Schools, Private Vs Public schools, Policy Makers vis-à-vis their dependent’s education. At some point, due to the present cross country protests on the proposed Reservation Policy, he also dwelt on the subject but this is just a brief mention.
Principally all and sundry should at least give a thought to the points raised by Mr.Kothari and if a debate is initiated and some concrete steps taken on the basis of this, we can at least expect a big thank you from the FUTURE EDUCATIONISTS AND HISTORIANS.
He has rightly pointed out the apathy of the policy makers towards the MASES. People in power take it as a given that they are sacrosanct, RULERS, THE MIGHTY and are governed by a different set of RULES FOR THE PRIVILEGED, ROYALTY. Mr.Kothari puts some blame on the Teachers in the Government Schools. I personally don’t agree to this. In my observations the poorest (NOT JUST FINANCIALLY BUT OVERALL) of the Government Servants are Postmen and SCHOOL TEACHERS. During my college days one of my most respected Professors Dr.N.K.Das Talukdar (a great scholar of Mechanical Engineering) used to say “TEACHING IS A NOBLE PROFESSION” to this day I strongly believe it is. Mr.Kothari seems very impressed by the Private Schools and the conditions of teachers there. The condition of Teachers in the so called Private Schools is no Better. In fact if we keenly observe, Schooling is a BIG business of the day and NO PROMOTER IS INTERESTED IN EDUCATION. Everyone is after the FAST BUCK, though we have constitutional restrictions to RUN EDUCATION AS A PROFIT MAKING ENTITY. Thanks to our political - bureaucratic nexus we are able to overcome all legal restrictions which come in the way. Research in the OWNERSHIP OF Better Known Private Schools may reveal the involvement of this Political – Bureaucratic Lobby. The only positive aspect of the Private Schools is the Staff is mostly involved in Teaching while their counter parts in Government Schools have many things to do other than Teaching. The School Premises is also subject to such extra curricular use THANKS TO THE SOCIAL – POLITICAL responsibilities of both the STATE AND CENTRAL Government. Typical example being ELECTIONS, SURVEYS sponsored by the Government, Child Immunization drives, public meetings of POLITICAL LEADERS. This SPONSORED AND forced support is so STRONG that in some cases even the STUDENTS are Forced in to it. Remember some time back in UP, School children fell unconscious, waiting for their BELOVED NETAJI in SMOLDERING AFTERNOON HEAT.
I can go on and on, but what I feel is needed is, we start realizing the problem instead of being PASSIVE OBSERVERS, EXPLOITED USERS OF THE SYSTEM, DUMB BY STANDERS. Undertake serious discussions on the future of OUR CHILDREN and THE FUTURE OF THE NATION. Come up with some practical solutions and stand behind them. See the implementation of the SYSTEM AND Day to Day Follow-up to maintain and refine it. People before us also might have had similar opinion and philosophy but along the way CURRUPTION slipped in and led to the present cancerous State. Now the need of the hour is DARASTIC ATTENTION. THE SOONER WE RISE TO THE NEED THE BETTER.

Recently had a chance to interact with some young professionals. Also read a no. of articles on the trends in the young and highly motivated with regard to the attitude towards RELATIONSHIPS AND SEX. I see a lot of confusion on this matter. On the one hand people seem to be quite liberated and open about every thing. They project themselves to be liberated but I have observed an internal turmoil. Hardly anyone I’ve met is secure about their relationship. Most people in the age group 14-24 (all singles) already have had some or the other form of PHYSICAL EXPOSURE. Nobody seems to attach any importance to the MIND/BODY/SOCIETY points. Just life is going on. But in each case the insecurity is clearly evident and the more the physical involvement the more the insecurity. Wonder where this will lead to with regard to the social well being. In some surveys across the highly active and upwardly mobile (singles, people in live-in relationships and married-couples) also the trend is very disturbing. There are instances of No Sex or Heart to Heart Talk in weeks. On the other hand at the start of a relationship Sex seems to be on top of all considerations. If we cannot sustain the TOTAL EXPERIENCE of a relationship, then why we enter in to it. Or is the UNIVERSAL CONFUSION responsible for it. Girls have moved ahead to an extent that they discuss and indulge in every thing considered taboo till only a few years back. Boys, who till recently were considered the BRAINS have become too casual. Has this all something to do with the Evolution Process of Darwin or some form of transformation or mutation in Freud’s Theory of growing up. There is talk of the ALPHA WOMAN and the TWENTIES LOOKING FORTISH MAN. In spite of every thing – our roots and cultural up bringing are deep, hence instead of madly following the crowd/cult, we should develop our own thinking about SEX AND RELATIONSHIPS. Perhaps then we will have a better quality of life. We can go for a purely physical affair, meaning SEX and sex only if both people in this relationship are perfectly comfortable with it. In case any one of the partners is uncomfortable it is better avoided then consummated. Across cultures Sex does have a bearing on the emotional psyche and hence can never be taken lightly. I have personally felt the conflicting mental war – on the one hand, when there is an opportunity one feels tempted to experiment, on the other when face to face with such a presentation the mind wants to hold back.
Would like people to give a thought to the above and will welcome there opinion to mutually develop the understanding of relationships across age groups. Am also open to healthy discussions on the matter and help anyone interested to the best of my ability and in the process add to my tiny knowledge base. SEX & RELATIONSHIPS has always fascinated me and still hold a lot of interest.

Today while listening to News on the Channels – was wondering as to the role of Media in Nation Building. The coverage with reference to Jessica Lal case seems to be following the beaten track. When are we going to grow-up???? It seems the JUDICIARY also needs a thorough revamp. There is a fundamental belief – JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED – and the case in reference is also no exception. It is a well known fact that for the GENERAL PUBLIC there is a separate Code of Justice, why else people run from pillar to post for PETTY OFFENCE, and for the PRIVILAGED even if every body knows the involvement in the offence the SYSTEM is bent backward to let them SCOT FREE. Why all this eye wash?? Why waste the public money in fooling the public. If we’re unable to book the PRIVILAGED let’s make a “MODEL CODE OF JUSTICE” for them with a single line – “NOT GUILTY – UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES” OR “ IMMUNE TO PROSECUTION AS LONG AS IN POWER” this will at least save a lot of money and public effort. We have enough expertise to get around the situation; it is only a question of acknowledging the facts and then making a sincere effort to evolve the corrective strategy. The so called elite of the society not only have the privilege of enjoying the luxuries but also have the responsibility to shoulder the duties of maintaining the SOCIAL FABRIC IN A NEAT AND ACCEPTABLE state.

Time and again the politicians have resorted to VOTE-BANK politics and we all are simply letting them get away with it.Reservations in educational institutions is a SOCIAL CRIME and not a SOCIAL JUSTICE.Especially so in case of Instittutions of Higher Studies and Professional Studies Centres of Excellence. The GOI has the Tax payers money at its disposal and can play with it the way it has done for the last so many years.Let them give genorous grants and assistance to the so called dis-advantaged, under privileged. But please stop the SICK people, playing the reservation GAME and sowing seeds similiar to Indo-Pak Devide, The British DEVIDE AND RULE Theory.
We all are going to regret the outcome as we are doing for the actions of the past decisions of similar Poloticians and Beauracrats.

It is more than 50 years after independence - WHAT DO WE HAVE TO SHOW -
we've been conditioned to be in a drugged state of mind. The people who have access to this msg are probably amongst the top 0.01% of the Indian Populace. Normally in any society this creame layer is responsible for the over all well being. Alas, here this same layer is the most dormant. The result, A political system without accountability Joker like Politicians, Mafia like beaurauecracy, the totally incompetent manning the most demending positions. The professionally qualified persons are the most to Blame as they have been playing the game delt by the system and have simply followed instead of the expected role of LEADING. It is high time we get our best abilities togather and rise to Take up our role, start owining responsiblities and GET TO some serious work. Else some where down the history lane we will be held responsible.
